Silhouette

Buon divertimento!

The silhouette in the photo is a special type of composition that I particularly like. That which distinguishes it from all the rest is the fact that such a photograph is performed in backlight with the proper subject in front of the light source.

This allows you to fully delineate the edges of the object or person shooting enhancing shapes and curves.

You have to essentially eliminate exposure to the foreground by focusing on the background, then the subject should be lit as little as possible or not at all.

The silhouette can be done both outdoors and in the studio, we usually look for homogeneous backgrounds, so as not to confuse the features of our subject, it is also possible with natural or urban backgrounds.

The important thing to keep in mind is that when we try to do such a photograph light rays caused by the sun or a lamp shall not in any way come within our target directly, but only just as a side dish to 'image we are building.

To get a more precise this effect we will have to take on manual mode or aperture priority, even better, and look for an opening in the diaphragm "small", this will help avoid any unwanted glare or light effects that may disturb the composition final.

I recommend you start at home, perhaps with a study lamp behind an object to your liking and a white sheet as a background. Definitely surprised friends, who think that will be the work of a professional! Sometimes it takes very little to make a big impact to our photos. Enjoy!
