One of the most important aspects of photography and therefore the use of digital SLR cameras, is related to the opening of the diaphragm, as we have seen in the relevant tutorial.

This value sets the amount of photons and therefore direct light to the sensor, which is closely linked to the chosen time and referred to the shutter for the final shot.

We have seen how to regulate this type of functions, in automatic mode, both simple and immediate. Let us, therefore, a step forward and talk about the shooting mode Aperture priority.

This setting allows the user to focus precisely on the opening of the diaphragm, ignoring the value of the shutter speed, which will happen automatically. We will have, therefore, the possibility of operating in a semi-auotmatico.

It 'clear that this type of value vary not only will allow us to consider light in proportion to its intensity with the help of the exposure, but also to assess what kind of depth of field we want to attribute to our shooting.

The potential is huge because if on the one hand we have to worry about how much sharpening or not give to a subject in the foreground or in the background, from another side of our SLR will take away most of the work and that is to be set in proper value for the shutter. This can be very useful in bright conditions such as during a session of landscape photography, where it is essential to understand the right amount of light to give real effect, and as much as possible consistent with what we are observing.

Clearly, the wider the aperture, and the better chance we will have to focus on all the subjects that make up the scene while we will have some small openings subject to fire and other very blurry.

To set this mode of work just observe our main dial and select "AV".

Once you make this simple procedure will jump to the eye, looking through the viewfinder of the SLR, as for example by setting a value of f / 5.6 or f / 2.8, and so on, the value of time will adjust automatically.

What, finally, will make you excited is the ability to "compensate" the brightness with the appropriate ring or wheel. This depends on the type of camera you have. You will, however, the possibility of applying some type of correction (+ 1 stop, + 2 stop etc .. to stop increasing or -1, -2 stops etc .... to decrease) and you will find, if the your esposimentro not succeed, the right balance of light.
