Pentax è uno dei marchi più prestigiosi nel panorama internazionale fotografico.

Questa famosa casa è stata fondata nel 1919 da Kumao Kajiwara ed aveva come scopo iniziale quello di produrre esclusivamente lenti per occhiali.

Successivamente, visto anche il grande successo dovuto alla qualità dei suoi prodotti, Pentax iniziò a produrre proiettori per le sale cinematografiche rivelandosi all'avanguardia nella tecnica e nell'ottica.

Solo nel 1932 iniziò a produrre obiettivi e quindi ad iniziare il suo lungo percorso nell'ambito fotografico.

Nel 1938 ci fu un vero e proprio boom per la casa giapponese la quale riforniva di ottiche l'esercito durante la seconda guerra mondiale. Questo successo, però, come sappiamo è stato interrotto dai tragici avvenimenti del conflitto e gli stabilimenti furono completamente distrutti.

Alla fine della guerra la casa fu rifondata quasi completamente e divenne pian piano all'avanguadia nello sviluppo e nella costruzione di ottiche per fotocamere a telemetro. In seguito ci fu la scelta molto intelligente dell'allora presidente Saburo Matsumoto di spingere verso la progettazione di lenti adatte a supportare un diverso tipo di corpi macchina e cioè le reflex a sistema.

Nel 1957 la Asahi Optical Co. introdusse una reflex con un pentaprisma molto luminoso il quale permetteva un'ottima visione del soggetto ripreso e dunque un'ottima focheggiatura.

Il passo successivo fu quello di migliorare l'esposimetro, si ebbe un clamoroso successo quando nel 1960 si decise di progettare un sistema che permetteva di visualizzare il valore direttamente dall'obiettivo.

La prima reflex con un automatismo si vide nel 1971 con la Electro Spotmatic, la quale possedeva la possibilità di lavorare in priorità di diaframma.

Nel 1980 fu introdotta la PENTAX LX la quale permetteva di usare mirini intercambiabili ed arrivare ad una sensibilità ed un tempo di posa mai raggiunto prima. Veramente una qualità professionale ma alla portata di ogni fotografo.

Nel 1987 fu introdotta la prima fotocamera Pentax SFX con flash incorporato e con la possibilità unica di contatti fra obiettivi e corpo macchina in modo da scambiare informazioni digitali sullo scatto fotografico che si stava eseguendo.

Nel 2000 si ebbero le prime e vere rivoluzioni in abito fotografico dettate sopratutto dalla possibilità di ottenere in digitale il pieno formato 24x36mm, ricalcando dunque le orme delle ormai lontane parenti analogiche. Per Pentax fu, dunque, il momento di presentare la ormai storica K-1.

Questa reflex apre un ciclo molto produttivo e di qualità eccellente per la casa giapponese che non si è più fermata da questo punto di vista, fino ad arrivare ai giorni d'oggi con la straordianaria K-5 la quale vanta un'altissima qualità d'immagine anche a valori alti di ISO e un corpo macchina protetto da ogni tipo di escursione termica. Il tutto con qualità a pieno formato.

Naturalmente la storia non finisce qui, ci auguriamo lunga vita per questo marchio storico il quale ci regalerà ancora molti prodigi tecnologici e novità importanti!
